Meet Our Team 

Dr. Shailesh Gandhi

Dr. Shailesh Gandhi completed his Medical schooling at Sayaji University Medical College in Baroda, India, and did his Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry training at University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. He also had extensive training and experience in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine prior to and during Psychiatry training. He maintains his Board Certification in Psychiatry.

He was appointed Medical Director of St. Joseph Villa, a Residential Youth facility in Rochester, New York; six months before finishing his Psychiatry training. He maintained Faculty position at University of Rochester for 3 years after completing residency training.

 

In Atlanta, he has been Clinical Director of several programs for the past 12 years, while maintaining his private practice. These include: Clinical Director of Partial Program at Brawner Hospital, Clinical Director of Inpatient and Partial Adolescent Programs at Emory Parkway Hospital and most recently, as Inpatient and Partial Child and Adolescent Program at Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna, Georgia. He currently maintains a faculty teaching position at Morehouse Medical School, in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

While he maintains voluntary status with several Indian Organizations in Atlanta, he was formally the President of the Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPI) with 700 members. He was president of the International Medical Graduate Body of Medical Association of Georgia. Dr. Gandhi was also a President of the Georgia Chapter of Indo-American Psychiatric Association. He is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association.

Kanwal Dhanani, PA-C

Kanwal Dhanani, PA-C is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Emory University and continued her studies at South University in Savannah to obtain her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.  

 

She has experience in Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine. Kanwal grew up in Gwinnett County and currently resides in Lawrenceville with her beautiful family.  Some of her hobbies include traveling the world and experiencing new cuisines.  She truly enjoys cultivating strong relationships with her patients and being a team player.  Kanwal is very excited to join Dr. Gandhi at SGPC and looks forward to becoming part of the family!
